What’s blocking you from losing weight?

Many people say that they want to lose weight, yet the time goes by and they don’t lose the weight they want to. So what is their challenge? It seems that something is blocking them from losing their weight. This can be very frustrating for so many people. To want to lose weight with all of your heart — yet not to be able to succeed, it is like you are two people. Sometimes you see yourself eating something tempting and you watch the tears fall down your face as you know — you shouldn’t be eating that but you just can’t stop yourself. So what’s blocking you?

Some people are blocked by a fear of intimacy. Whether a fear of sexual or interpersonal intimacy, they fear somehow that if they lose the weight, they will "have" to be close with someone that they don’t want to be. Now no one can make us be close to them that we don’t want to. We are the only authority in our own lives and we all have control of our own lives. So the people with this fear need to learn more self-confidence and self-assurance. Often they fear a sense of losing control in their relationships. Perhaps they are timid and are not saying things that they would like to.

Some people are blocked because they are not facing emotions they are not ready to. Some overweight people have anger, frustration, anxiety or other emotions that they eat over. It can be so hard to face an emotion that overwhelms you — so instead you eat. While this is not the best action to take, it is a way to "swallow" the feeling temporarily. But the feeling keeps coming back. That’s why you have to keep eating. Because the feeling won’t go away. It can be very scary when this person goes on a diet, because they have to face exactly what they have been avoiding. Having a trained professional to talk to can be helpful to work out their feelings.

Other people are blocked by a feeling of "what’s the use? I’ll always be fat!" They feel hopeless like they’ll never lose the weight. These people need encouragement to lose weight and a proper regimen that works for their lifestyle. Not every regimen is appropriate for each person. The overweight person needs to find the best program for them. Also doing things to build up their confidence would be ideal, as they could realize that they can reach this goal.

People lose weight each and every year. Every year people go on diets and lose hundreds of pounds. This year could be your year. This diet you try could be the last diet you go on. This time could be the last time. That self-awareness, that bold honesty is the necessary step needed to make this diet permanent and life changing. A life changing diet is exactly what is needed to improve your life for good!
